Vampires
A Vampire is a half-human/half-demon hybrid that instantly loses their soul to hell when they are turned, whether it was good or bad in life. What is unique about the Vampire Race is that, unlike other Cambions, they have not sold their soul to hell or necessarily sinned in life that would earn them a one-way ticket to damnation, and yet, their soul upon death instantly goes to Lilith, the Queen of the Vampire Race. Whether they choose to become a vampire or not, their souls are instantly bound to hell.
With ashen skin and blue spidery veins, when vampires are newly turned, they display obvious demonic characteristics such as glowing red eyes and fangs.
They come from all races, ages, and genders and are of all shapes and sizes. As they get older, vampires are better able to mask their vampyric features (eyes/ teeth/ thin skin), making older vampires harder to detect, appearing almost human, except for their blue veins and two fangs protruding from their upper jaws. If a vampire gets their regular blood supply demands met, they can grow stronger with age, and from the people they kill, absorbing the human's life essence through their blood.
All vampires answer to Lilith and can be compelled by her into doing whatever she wishes through the Sire Bond: a profound telepathic connection that links her to all of her progeny.
How they turn
To turn a human is very straightforward and involves blood sharing. The vampire will drink the human's blood until they are close to death, then give them their blood before killing them. The turn takes one night, and a new vampire is born.
Vampires will typically turn people who are prone to violent natures to create strong and bloodthirsty vampires. Becoming a vampire doesn't make one inherently evil, but it has an intoxicating effect when drinking blood and hunting, which can turn even the nicest human into a monster. Some can resist their new nature, but most fall into darkness.
Those sired into nests tend to stand a higher chance of survival, as their new nest mates will feed them and protect them from hunters, while also teaching them how to master their new abilities and blood lust.
Many younglings who are left alone will be hunted down and killed before they can expose others of their race.
Once a human is turned into a vampire, their circulatory system takes over for their digestive system and acts much like the digestive system in its need to consume sustenance to sustain life. As a vampire is undead, they need oxygenated blood from other living beings to keep them strong, as well as other nutrients like iron and B12 that can only be found in blood. Drinking blood ensures a vampire can stay healthy and strong, and if a vampire is starved of blood, their bodies begin to decay (much like a corpse), which can eventually lead to a very slow and painful death.
Abilities/ Weaknesses
They are very strong and fast, and use their teeth and hands predominantly when fighting.
Weakened by sunlight, killed with decapitation, fire, and prolonged starvation from blood, the traditional way to kill a vampire is to stake the heart so the blood supply is cut off to the rest of their bodies.
Misconceptions: Most think only wooden stakes can kill vampires, and though this is true, it’s not about the material of the stake, but the heart. When a vampire is turned, their circulatory system takes over for the digestive system, so by stopping the heart, you cut off the main organ that fuels/ feeds a vampire.
Most often killed by hunters or The Reapers, sometimes vampires will kill other vampires in territorial disputes, or if one has gotten out of hand and risks exposure.
As the father of the first vampires, Lucifer's blood held remarkable abilities to heal and regenerate, and this was passed on to his progeny, Kaine and Abel, the first vampires of all creation born of Lilith nearly 1000 years ago.
As more and more vampires were created, the angelic blood would dilute, but never truly leave the bloodline, so all vampires could use their blood to heal humans (with varying results).
The older the vampire, the purer the blood and the more power it can hold.
Reapers are the number one enemy of vampires, and most nests keep to themselves and their territories, answering only to Lilith when she calls on them.
Mating Rituals
When a vampire meets their mate, a Mate Bond begins to form and will draw the vampire in, compelling them to complete the bond by sharing blood.
The earliest signs of a Mate Bond are the scent of their mate, an intoxicating blend that draws the vampire in, as well as an obsession with drinking their blood.
Often, vampires will form a Mate Bond with a human, their nature driving them to turn that human into a vampire so they can end their bloodlust and spend eternity with them.
The only way to end a Mate Bond is to kill the human or vampire; otherwise, a Mate Bond will inevitably end with a new vampire and a mated pair.
